Get on board with the Keolis app

Are you familiar with the Keolis app? You can purchase a variety of tickets and subscriptions via the app. You can use the app to travel with your phone and never be without a ticket again.

How does travelling with the app work?

When you buy a ticket or subscription with the app, your phone will serve as your bus ticket.

In the app, click on "Purchase ticket," find the ticket or subscription you want and add it to your cart. After your payment via iDEAL or credit card, the subscription will immediately be added to the "Active tickets" page of the app and you can start using it to travel.

You will no longer need a pass or OV chip card. Simply show the driver or conductor your subscription in the app.

In order to travel with a ticket/subscription, each passenger must have their own account within the Syntus app.

The Keolis app is valid when the "day code" within the app is clearly visible. The user of the Syntus app should therefore make sure that their smartphone functions correctly. That means that the device's time and date settings must be correct. A faulty time or date may cause the app to display the wrong day code, which would make the ticket invalid.

Creating an account for each passenger

To travel with a ticket/subscription, every passenger must have their own account within the Keolis app.
You can download the Keolis app for iOS and Android in the App Store or the Play Store.

You want to purchase a subscription for your child(ren) via the Syntus app

  • Download the Keolis app on your child(ren)'s smartphone(s)
  • Your children must each have their own account. If they do not yet have an account of their own, you have to set one up for them.
  • Once your children have registered their accounts on their own smartphones, you can purchase travel products for your children with your own phone. Make sure to select the "purchase for someone else" option during checkout. All you have to do is enter the email address linked to your child's account.

Which tickets and subscriptions can I purchase with the app?

Due to the Corona virus, no tickets are sold by the drivers. These tickets are for sale in the Keolis app. So you can just buy the ticket that you always bought in the app. Do not forget to activate the ticket before you get in. The tickets themselves are valid for a limited period of time.

The following tickets from Syntus Utrecht are available via the Keolis app:

  • Public transport Travel card 1-2 zones € 2.90
  • Public transport Travel card 3-4 zones € 4.50
  • Public transport Travel card 5-6 zones € 6.60
  • Public transport Travel card> 7 zones € 7.50

The price of the public transport travel ticket is based on the number of zones where you travel. Do you want to know how many zones you travel through? Plan your trip here and make sure you tick the box with 'zones' at the top right.

No OV chip card or sight subscription required
If you purchase a ticket or subscription in the app, you no longer need an OV chip card or a sight subscription. You travel with your phone by showing the ticket or subscription.

Do I always need an internet connection?

You will only need a data connection (Wi-Fi or network) to download the app and to purchase tickets or subscriptions. No data connection is required when travelling with the app. Once you have purchased a ticket or subscription, you can activate it offline via the app and use it, e.g. when you travel by bus or train. No data will be used.

If you have a subscription, your phone must be connected to the internet at least once every 24 hours in order to renew the code and colour. These act as identification tools for the driver. This happens automatically, e.g. when your phone is connected to your home Wi-Fi network. You do not have to open the app itself to do this.

The Keolis app is still under development. In the future, it will continue to be expanded with additional features.
