Syntus to become new public transport operator in Almere

The municipality of Almere announced today, 27 September, that it has entrusted Syntus with its public bus transport until December of 2027.

Cees Anker, general director of Syntus: “Almere is a remarkable, multifaceted city that deserves a unique approach when it comes to bus transport. We are thrilled that Syntus was selected for this job and that we get to be the public transport operator in one of the Netherlands' biggest cities.

Over the past period, we have been working on a clear vision for Almere's bus transport with a lot of enthusiasm and effort. We translated this vision into an attractive and complete offer, which the municipality evidently appreciated."

Syntus submitted the winning offer to the municipality of Almere on 8 July. Syntus based its offer on the seven principles of Almere, which focus on the diversity of the passengers, the city and its environment, innovation and change as well as connectivity. People make this city what it is. Syntus' public transport must add value for everyone, is sustainable as a matter of course and meets passenger demands with its excellent high-frequency service. This ensures it is great value to anyone, however diverse their requirements are.

Cees Anker states that he has the utmost confidence in the implementation of this concession. “We will do everything it takes to put all our ideas into practice. Everything starts with our passengers. They have to feel welcome and safe and be able to travel from A to B in comfort - whether they are doing so for work, school, recreation or to meet each other. We will devote ourselves utterly to this goal, because our passengers are counting on us!"

Winning this tender for Almere's public bus transport fits perfectly within Syntus' strategy to continue its growth and develop into an innovative mobility provider.
